Day 1
Ho Chi Minh Arrival

Your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel for check-in when you arrive in the bustling Ho Chi Minh City, which many locals still refer to as “Saigon.” From 14:00, you have access to your room. You can spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring the city, wandering the streets, eating street food, or visiting the local market. In Ho Chi Minh, spend the night in a hotel.

Day 2
Half day city tour in Ho Chi Minh City (B, L, D)

Take in the sights of Ho Chi Minh City. At the Museum, you can see examples of French colonial architecture and learn about Vietnam’s turbulent history.
Our tour guide will take you to the most interesting sights in Ho Chi Minh City. Depart from your hotel for the Reunification Palace, which was once the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam and is now beautifully preserved. The American War officially ended here on April 30th, 1975.
Following that, we went to the Notre Dame Cathedral in Saigon, which was completed in 1880, and the Old Post Office, which was constructed between 1886 and 1891. It is considered one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture in the world. Our final stop will be at a local market, where you can hone your bargaining skills while purchasing souvenirs. Learn about the people and culture of the area. Here you’ll find some of the city’s friendliest, liveliest, and most convivial residents. Return to your Ho Chi Minh City hotel. The rest of the day is yours so do whatever you want.

Day 3
Ho Chi Minh – Cao Dai Temple – Cu Chi Tunnels – Ho Chi Minh (B, L, D)

The driver and tour guide will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and drive you to Tay Ninh Province. Arrive in Tay Ninh after 2 hours and visit Cao Dai Temple, the sacred temple of Caodaism, which combines aspects of Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, and even Catholicism. You will have the opportunity to learn more about the Vietnamese religion. Lunch at a local restaurant in the afternoon. Leave Tay Ninh in the afternoon and travel to Cu Chi. Watch a short video about soldiers’ lives during wartime and learn about the underground tunnel system, which was used to transport supplies, treat injured soldiers, and house people during some of the war’s most strategic operations. Return to your hotel in Ho Chi Minh after visiting the Cu Chi Tunnels.

Day 4
Ho Chi Minh – Cai Be – Bassac Cruise (B, L, D)

Transfer to Cai Be from your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City. At 12PM, board the Bassac Cruise. Check into your cabin after a welcome drink and an introduction to the ship and crew. While cruising towards Cho Lach in Tien Giang, stop for lunch. The Bassac enters the Ch Lách canal in the midst of the river traffic, between markets and churches, providing a unique opportunity to see the very diverse life on both the banks and on the water. A visit to a village on the banks of the Mang Thit River provides an opportunity to learn about the local people’s way of life and hospitality. Visit a nearby orchard or rice field. When you get back on board, you’ll be greeted with a complimentary drink. Relax on the deck as the sunsets. While the Bassac is cruising the Mang Thit river, the crew will serve dinner. The Bassac anchors for the night just downstream from the Tra On Floating Market.

Day 5
Cai Be – Can Tho – Cai Rang Floating Market (B, L)

As the ship resumes its cruise to the Tra On Floating Market, you may get up for breakfast as early as 06:30. The ship then sets sail for Can Tho. Arrive at Cai Rang Floating Market, board a local boat for a tour of the floating market, nearby arroyos, and gardens, and return to Ninh Kieu pier by mid-morning. Boarding at Ninh Kieu pier in Can Tho. After a welcome drink, we’ll set out downstream on the Hau River. While en route, we had lunch on board. Near the Cai Rang Floating Market, take a tour. Turning into the Nicolai canal and heading for the Mang Thit and Co Chien rivers.
Relax on the upper deck while admiring the nearby banks’ scenery of rice fields, sugar cane, and woods. By mid-afternoon, the Bassac has dropped anchor for a shore visit: past the first tree line, quiet discovery of the peaceful life in the delta’s countryside, of rice fields, fruit trees, and friendly locals. When you return to the ship, you’ll be greeted with a complimentary drink. Relax on the deck or at the bar while watching the sunset. While the Bassac cruises the Mang Thit river towards her overnight anchorage, the crew will serve dinner. On the river Mang Thit, the Bassac anchors for the night.

Day 6
Can Tho – Cai Be – Ho Chi Minh City (B)

The journey to Cai Be begins. Passengers enjoy their breakfast while taking in the scenery along the riverbanks. The Bassac river crosses the Co Chien river, then branches into Cho Lach for 30 minutes, passing by sand and rice barges and fruit drying facilities, as well as wooden shipbuilding yards. After arriving in Cai Be, check out and board a smaller boat for a tour of the floating market and local handicraft workshops. Disembark and transfer to Ho Chi Minh City after touring the Cai Be market.
