Elephant Nature Park is an elephant rescue and rehabilitation center in Northern Thailand where you can volunteer and visit to help. We have been involved in dozens of rescues that have created our thriving elephant herd. The park provides a natural environment for elephants, dogs, cats, buffaloes, and many other animals under our care.

Volunteers and visitors contribute to the healing while learning about their lives past and present. Arrange a visit to all our projects in Thailand, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

Day 2: Back to Chiang Mai (B, L)

Day 1
CHIANG MAI (L, D)

Starting from 08:00 – 08:30, you will be picked up at your Chiang Mai hotel and transferred through the countryside, The Mae Taeng Village, and Elephant Nature Park. On arrival, you will be greeted by other rescued animals like dogs, cats, and buffalo. Observe free-roaming elephants (no riding), and enjoy the natural surroundings of the elephant’s sanctuary. See how they became a proud herd and free from abuse for the first time in their lives. Over the next hours, you will hear the personal stories of our rescued elephants as told by one of our expert guides. You will be able to observe the incredible giants from the viewing platforms as they roam the park with their family groups and you will be able to walk around the park in smaller groups, escorted by an expert guide to meet some of the friendly elephants. Enjoy a close encounter with these majestic animals and be prepared for some amazing photo opportunities.
You can expect to have some wonderful photo opportunities during this time. (No more hand-feeding)
Lunch will be served near the viewing platform with the elephants walking around nearby. Chatting with your guide as well as park volunteers during lunch is a nice way to learn even more about the elephants at the Park. Discover how to communicate with elephants.
Observe the elephants at play and watch them interact in each of their social groups
We get a chance to walk with our staff and the elephants to the Taeng River that skirts the park. Watch these gentle giants as they splash around and play while you stay dry at the river that borders our park.
Dinner at the Park will be a casual affair. You can expect the same high-quality food as was served at lunch.
Accommodation: Elephant Nature Park (Traditional bamboo hut will be equipped with a fan, bedding and pillows, and a mosquito net, and it will be located near a shared western-style bathroom.) Guests may wish to leave windows open at night as you may hear the elephants snore and even give the occasional trumpet. (Please be aware of some small insects. While you keep the window open during the night time please hang up a mosquito net)

Day 2
CHIANG MAI (B, L)

After breakfast at the camp and before the fruit trucks arrive, you will have the opportunity to go on an elephant walk (weather permitting).
Following the elephants through the nearby jungle and fields will certainly give you many lasting memories and fantastic photos. Returning to the Park with the elephants and their mahouts
Observe and enjoy the communications and interactions between these loving herd elephants
Around 3 pm it’s time for goodbyes to the elephants and to Elephant Nature Park. After that, all that remains is the hour-long drive back to Chiang Mai where you will be dropped off at your hotel or guesthouse.
