Quick answer

For families with children over 10, Vietnam works best as a private tour of 14–17 days: Hanoi and a Halong Bay cruise, a few active days in the mountains or the countryside, Hoi An, and time on the beach or in the Mekong Delta. With your own guide and driver you can set the pace for teenagers, keep transfers short and add the activities they will remember, such as cycling, kayaking and cooking classes.

Our family itineraries start from US$1,960 per person for 14 days (2 travellers sharing in 4★ hotels; price confirmed in your tailor-made quote). From 12 years old children pay the adult rate; 5–11 year-olds pay 75–85%.

This page brings together our private family tours that suit children over 10 and teenagers, and our planning guides for families. Every trip is private and tailor-made: we change the route, hotels and pace until it suits everyone, from teenagers to grandparents.

What we change for families with teenagers

  • Fewer hotel changes: two or three nights in each place, so nobody spends the holiday packing.

    Frequently asked questions

Is Vietnam good for a family holiday with teenagers?

Yes. Distances are manageable with domestic flights, the food is varied, and there is plenty to do beyond sightseeing: cycling, kayaking, cooking classes and beaches. A private tour lets you set the pace for your own family.

How many days do we need?

Two weeks covers the north, centre and south at an easy pace; 17 days lets you add Cambodia or Laos, or more beach time.

    How much do children pay?

From 12 years old, the adult rate. Children aged 5–11 pay 85% of the adult rate in an extra bed or 75% sharing a bed, as listed on our tour pages.

When is the best time to travel in the school holidays?

Easter and October half-term suit a full north-to-south trip. In July and August the central coast is at its best, while the north is hot with summer showers.
