Frequently asked questions

How many days do I need in Sapa?

Three days and two nights from Hanoi is ideal: travel up, a full day of walking in the Muong Hoa valley, and Fansipan or Cat Cat before the drive back. Four days lets you add the Bac Ha market.

How much does a private Sapa tour cost?

Our private Sapa tours are listed from US$420 per person for 3 days and US$560 for 4 days, for 2 travellers sharing in 4★ hotels. The final price is in your quote.

Is the Sapa trek difficult?

The classic Lao Chai–Ta Van walk is about 10 km on village paths with some slippery slopes after rain. We adjust the distance, and a car can meet you halfway.

A private car on the expressway takes five to six hours door to door. The overnight train saves a day of travel but you still need a one-hour drive from Lao Cai.

When is the best time to visit Sapa?

September to early October for golden rice terraces, and March to May for clear, mild weather. Winter nights can be close to freezing.
