In short

The Vietage is a single luxury carriage attached to Vietnam's regular coastal train, with six private booths for 12 guests. It runs daily on two legs: Da Nang to Quy Nhon (about six hours) and Quy Nhon to Nha Trang (about five hours). It suits couples and families with older children who would rather watch the coast go by than take another flight.

Why it is worth it

You pay for space and attention, not speed. Each booth seats two, so the whole carriage holds 12 guests with their own host, a bar and a small spa nook. On the Da Nang to Quy Nhon leg a pre-ordered three-course meal is served at your booth; on the Quy Nhon to Nha Trang leg it is an afternoon tea with local caviar and Vietnamese cheeses. Selected wine, cocktails, mocktails, tea and coffee flow throughout, and every guest gets a 15-minute head and shoulder treatment. The window shows the Hai Van side of the coast, paddy fields and the long beaches south of Quang Ngai.

The pace is slow: the train averages about 52 km/h. For travelers in their 60s and 70s that is the point, and the booths are easy to move around in. Note the practical side: the Quy Nhon stop is Dieu Tri station, a short drive from the beach resorts, and the evening leg north arrives in Da Nang late at night, so we usually route guests southbound.

The journey, step by step

MorningPrivate car from your Da Nang or Hoi An hotel to Da Nang station, arriving 45 minutes before the 07:55 departure.
MiddayThree-course meal at your booth, head and shoulder treatment, coast and paddy views past Tam Ky and Quang Ngai.
AfternoonArrive Dieu Tri around 14:10; your driver takes you to a Quy Nhon beach resort, or you stay on for Nha Trang.
ThenQuy Nhon to Nha Trang leaves Dieu Tri at about 14:20 and arrives Nha Trang about 19:20, with afternoon tea on board.

How we fit it into your private trip

We use The Vietage to replace a domestic flight in the middle of a Central and South Vietnam itinerary. A typical pattern is three nights in Hoi An, the train south to Quy Nhon for two or three resort nights, then the second leg to Nha Trang or a private car to the next stop. Your driver meets you at each station, so there is no luggage to carry beyond the platform.

Itineraries we often build around it:

Good to know

  • Departures: Da Nang 07:55, arriving Dieu Tri (for Quy Nhon) about 14:10; Dieu Tri 14:23, arriving Nha Trang 19:18. Northbound legs run in the afternoon and evening; timetable valid from 15 May 2026 and subject to change.
  • Dieu Tri station is the stop for Quy Nhon; the city and beach resorts are a short drive away, which we arrange.
  • Children of all ages are welcome. Under 4 travel free sharing a seat and meal with an adult; from age 4 the adult rate applies; one child per paying adult.
  • Two pieces of luggage per guest; smart-casual dress; complimentary Wi-Fi and power outlets at each booth.
  • The full Da Nang to Nha Trang run is limited and only released by the operator on request.

Frequently asked questions

Is it comfortable for travelers in their 70s?

Yes. The booths are wide, the host brings everything to your seat, and the only walking is along one carriage. Boarding uses the standard platform step, so tell us if someone needs a hand. Six hours is long; we pair the ride with a quiet resort night at the other end.

Which direction should we travel?

Southbound. The morning train leaves Da Nang at 07:55 and reaches Quy Nhon in the early afternoon, which lines up with resort check-in. The northbound legs run into the evening and reach Da Nang late at night, so we rarely use them.

Can we do both legs on the same day?

Yes, if you book the through journey. Quy Nhon to Nha Trang departs about ten minutes after the first leg arrives, so you stay on board. It is a full day, roughly 07:55 to 19:20, with a meal on the first leg and afternoon tea on the second.

Is the rate per person or per booth?

The operator sells seats per guest, and the price depends on the leg. Price is confirmed in your written quote, together with the station transfers we include.
