Quick answer

A private Bali tour with Metta Voyage gives you your own car and driver-guide, a private English-speaking guide; guides in your language on request, and a quiet villa or boutique resort instead of a big beach hotel. Six to eight days is the right length for Bali: three nights in Ubud for rice terraces, temples and the lake, then two or three nights on the coast at Uluwatu, Jimbaran or Nusa Dua.

Our 6-day Bali and Nusa Penida tour is listed from US$570 per person and the 12-day Bali family holiday from US$1,110 (2 travellers sharing). Bali works best as the beach and wellness end of a Vietnam trip; we arrange both, with one team and one quote.

How a 6-day private Bali trip runs

Sample private route; every day can be changed
DayRoute and highlightsOvernight
1Arrive at Ngurah Rai airport (Denpasar); private transfer to UbudUbud
2Tegallalang rice terraces, a coffee estate, Kintamani and the view over Mount Batur and its lakeUbud
3Taman Ayun temple, the Candi Kuning market, Pura Ulun Danu Bratan on Lake Bratan, sunset at Tanah LotUbud
4A slow morning in Ubud (market, palace, a Balinese cooking class or spa), then to the south coastUluwatu or Jimbaran
5Free beach day, or a boat to Nusa Penida or Nusa Lembongan; evening at Uluwatu cliff temple and seafood in JimbaranUluwatu or Jimbaran
6Free time and transfer to the airport–

Every day can be changed: we can swap the water-sports morning at Tanjung Benoa for a spa or a cooking class, and replace Nusa Penida with a rest day at the villa.

Nusa Penida is beautiful but involves a fast boat, rough island roads and steep paths to the viewpoints. For travellers over 60 we usually suggest a gentler day on Nusa Lembongan or a rest day at the villa instead.

Bali after Vietnam

Bali is a natural ending to a two- or three-week trip in Vietnam: culture and cities first, then villas and beaches. Flights from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi take about four to five hours, direct on some days or with a connection in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. We plan the order, the flight and the transfers together. For couples, see Vietnam and Bali honeymoon ideas.

Popular Vietnam parts: 9 days of culture and history (from US$1,454), 12-day Vietnam in depth (from US$2,344) and 14 days north to south (from US$2,014), prices per person for 2 sharing as listed on each tour page. More on our Vietnam tour operator page.
