Private tour with your own English-speaking guide · 11 days / 10 nights · Bangkok – Hua Hin – Chiang Mai – Bangkok

This Thailand luxury spa tour is built around the country's great gift to the world: the art of touch. In Bangkok you spend two afternoons in a signature spa, with hot stone and crystal work, a traditional Thai aromatic massage, a full-body ritual and a facial. Between treatments you still see the city, with a long-tail boat ride through the old canals of Thonburi and a visit to Wat Arun.

Next comes Hua Hin, the royal seaside town south of Bangkok, where three nights at a Club room resort leave you free to swim, sleep and book a daily massage. You then fly north to Chiang Mai for Doi Suthep, a handicraft village, a riverside Northern Thai lunch and a two-hour herbal compress treatment at Oasis Spa.

Everything is private, from the fast-track welcome at Bangkok airport to every transfer. The pace is slow on purpose. Most days have one gentle outing at most, so you go home rested.

Who this trip suits

Very easy. There are no early starts and only light walking on temple grounds, apart from the 300-step climb at Doi Suthep (a cable car also runs). The longest transfer is about three hours from Hua Hin to Bangkok airport. Perfect for couples and older travelers who want a restful trip.

Where you stay

Five-star hotels throughout: The Sukosol in Bangkok (Deluxe room), the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin (Regency Club room) and the Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai (Garden Pavilion), or similar. Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok is available as an upgrade.

Best time to go

November to February is the best time for this trip, with dry, sunny weather and cool evenings in Chiang Mai. March to May is hot, which makes a spa holiday even more appealing. From June to October expect short tropical showers; Hua Hin on the Gulf coast tends to stay drier than the Andaman side.

Your guide, your language

Your guide and driver are yours alone for the whole trip, so the pace, the stops and the start time each morning follow you. The standard version has an English-speaking guide; guides who speak French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese or Vietnamese can be arranged on request.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Bangkok

Your trip starts the easy way. A fast-track service takes you through immigration at Bangkok airport, and your guide meets you with a fresh flower garland. A private car takes you to your hotel in the city. After a long flight, the rest of the day is yours to settle in, take a swim or enjoy a quiet dinner nearby. Your guide will go through the plan for the days ahead before leaving you to rest.

Overnight: Bangkok

Day 2 Thonburi canals, Wat Arun and your first spa afternoon

Board a long-tail boat on the Chao Phraya River and slip into the quiet canals of Thonburi, where wooden houses and small temples line the water. Stop at Baan Bu, the only community in Thailand still making traditional bronze pieces by hand, a craft more than 200 years old. Visit a peaceful riverside temple and then Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn. After a Thai set lunch at Baan Khanitha, head to the spa for a two-hour hot stone and crystal massage and a two-hour Thai aromatic massage.

Overnight: Bangkok · Meals: B, L

Day 3 A full spa ritual in Bangkok

The morning is free. Later, your driver takes you back to the spa for a second session. It starts with a full-body treatment of a little over two hours using shiso-infused oil, followed by a rejuvenating facial of about an hour, matched to your skin type. To finish, a gentle steam prepares your skin for an hour-long body scrub with natural ingredients such as apricot kernel and rice bran oil. You return to the hotel relaxed, with the evening free to enjoy Bangkok at your own pace.

Overnight: Bangkok · Meals: B

Day 4 To the royal seaside town of Hua Hin

After breakfast, a private car takes you south to Hua Hin, a seaside town long loved by the Thai royal family. The drive takes around three hours. Check in to the Hyatt Regency Hua Hin, where your Club room gives you a calm base by the beach. In the afternoon, choose a massage from the resort spa menu and let the journey melt away. Dinner is at the resort this evening, so there is nothing more to plan.

Overnight: Hua Hin · Meals: B, D

Day 5 A slow day by the sea

Today is yours. There is no guide and no schedule, only the beach, the pools and the spa. Many guests book a treatment in the morning, swim in the afternoon and walk along the sand at sunset. If you want a little more, the town center and its seafood restaurants are a short ride away, and the resort can arrange a taxi. Lunch and dinner are included at the resort, so you can simply relax.

Overnight: Hua Hin · Meals: B, L, D

Day 6 More time to rest in Hua Hin

A second free day by the Gulf of Thailand. Sleep in, read by the pool or book another session at the spa. Hua Hin has a gentle climate and a calm feel, which makes it one of the best places in the country to slow down. Lunch and dinner are again at the resort. If you would like a guided outing, such as a visit to a local market, tell us before you travel and we will add it.

Overnight: Hua Hin · Meals: B, L, D

Day 7 Fly north to Chiang Mai

Enjoy a slow morning at the resort before your private transfer to Bangkok airport, about three hours by road. From there, a short flight of around 70 minutes takes you to Chiang Mai, the cultural capital of the north. Your local guide meets you on arrival and drives you to the Four Seasons Resort, set among rice terraces in the Mae Rim valley. The rest of the day is free to enjoy the quiet gardens and mountain views.

Overnight: Chiang Mai · Meals: B

Day 8 Doi Suthep, Baan Tawai crafts and Oasis Spa

Drive up Doi Suthep to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, the most sacred temple in northern Thailand. A staircase of more than 300 steps, lined with serpent-like nagas, leads to a golden chedi and views over the city. Next, visit Baan Tawai, a village of fine wood carving and home decor. Lunch is Northern Thai cuisine at The Gallery, by the Ping River. In the afternoon, enjoy a spa consultation and a two-hour herbal compress and hot oil massage at Oasis Spa.

Overnight: Chiang Mai · Meals: B, L

Day 9 A free day in Chiang Mai

This day is left open so you can follow your mood. Stay at the resort and enjoy its spa and pool, or take part in a Thai cooking class, which we can arrange as an option. Chiang Mai's cooking schools often begin with a visit to a local market to choose herbs and vegetables, and you eat what you cook. In the evening, the old city and its night markets are easy to reach with a short car ride.

Overnight: Chiang Mai · Meals: B

Day 10 Fly back to Bangkok

The morning is yours for a last swim or a final walk through the rice terraces. In the afternoon, your private car takes you to Chiang Mai airport for the flight back to Bangkok. On arrival, your driver takes you to your hotel for a final night in the capital. Spend the evening on a riverside terrace, take a last massage at the hotel or browse a night market before packing for home.

Overnight: Bangkok · Meals: B

Day 11 Depart from Bangkok

There is nothing planned today, so you can enjoy breakfast without rushing. Use the morning for last-minute shopping or a quiet hour by the pool, depending on your flight time. At the right moment, your private car takes you to Suvarnabhumi International Airport for your flight home. We hope you leave Thailand rested, with a little of its calm still with you.
