Vietnam tour from Dublin

Dublin has the widest choice. The Gulf carriers and Turkish Airlines sell one-stop tickets to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and you can also fly a short leg to London Heathrow, Amsterdam, Paris or Frankfurt and connect onto Vietnam Airlines, which flies nonstop from those cities to Vietnam. With the Gulf disruption of 2026, a European connection is often the more predictable choice – we are happy to look at your options with you.

Our tip: an open-jaw ticket – into Hanoi, home from Ho Chi Minh City – saves you a day of backtracking. If you connect in London or Amsterdam, leave a comfortable gap between flights on separate tickets.

Vietnam tour from Cork

From Cork, the simplest routes are via London Heathrow with Aer Lingus, which flies there several times a day, or via Amsterdam with KLM. Vietnam Airlines flies nonstop from Heathrow to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and from Amsterdam to Hanoi. Some travellers prefer to drive to Dublin for a single connection via the Gulf or Istanbul.

Vietnam tour from Shannon

London Heathrow is Shannon’s busiest route, which makes it the natural connection point: fly to Heathrow, then take the Vietnam Airlines nonstop to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City. From the west of Ireland that is usually easier than going via Dublin.

When to go – matched to Irish holidays

  • Christmas and New Year: warm, dry weather in the south, the Mekong Delta and Phu Quoc – a proper winter-sun trip. Hanoi is cool.
  • Tet, the Lunar New Year (6 February 2027): colourful, but transport is busy and some shops close for a few days, so we plan around it.
  • February mid-term and St Patrick’s week: northern Vietnam is cool and fresh, ideal for walking in Hanoi, Ninh Binh and Ha Long Bay.
  • Easter holidays: one of the best windows for a full north-to-south trip.
  • Summer holidays (July–August): central Vietnam – Hoi An, Da Nang and Hue – is at its sunniest; the north is hot and green with tropical showers.
  • October mid-term: the north is lovely as the heat eases; central Vietnam is rainy, so we plan around the north and south.

Visa, money and practical details

Visa. Irish citizens need a visa for Vietnam – unlike UK citizens, Ireland is not on the visa-exemption list. Apply for the official e-visa only at evisa.gov.vn: up to 90 days, single or multiple entry, government fee US$25 or US$50, usually processed in about three working days. Your passport should be valid for at least six months from arrival. Read the Department of Foreign Affairs travel advice for Vietnam before you go. Checked 26 October 2026.

Money. Vietnam uses the dong (VND). Cards are widely accepted in 4–5★ hotels and better restaurants; carry some dong for markets, small towns and tips. Euros can be exchanged in the cities, but most travellers simply use ATMs.

Power. Your Irish Type G plug will not fit Vietnamese two-pin sockets, so pack an adapter; at 220 V the voltage is close to Ireland’s 230 V, so no converter is needed.
