Two or three days is right for Da Lat, the highland town at about 1,500 m in southern Vietnam: one day for the town (Xuan Huong Lake, the old railway station, the flower gardens and markets) and one for the countryside – coffee farms, waterfalls, Lang Biang mountain and minority villages.

December to March is dry, sunny and cool (about 15–24 °C by day, colder at night). April and May are pleasant; from May to October afternoon rain is common. Bring a jacket at any time of year.
