Private tour with your own English-speaking guide · 14 days / 13 nights · Bangkok – Damnoen Saduak – Kanchanaburi – Ayutthaya – Chiang Mai – Doi Inthanon – Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle – Bangkok – Bali – Kintamani – Tegallalang – Bedugul – Tanah Lot – Uluwatu – Nusa Penida

This Thailand and Bali tour combines two of Asia's favorite destinations in one smooth journey. The Thai half covers the essentials: Bangkok's temples and Grand Palace, the River Kwai, the ruins of Ayutthaya, a sleeper train to Chiang Mai, Doi Inthanon and the temples of Chiang Rai.

From Bangkok a direct flight of about four and a half hours brings you to Bali. You stay by the beach in Legian and spend your days on the island's highlights: a Barong dance and craft villages, Kintamani and Mount Batur, the lake temple of Ulun Danu Beratan, Tanah Lot at sunset, the cliffs of Uluwatu and a day on Nusa Penida.

With your own guide and driver throughout, it suits couples, honeymooners and families with children over 10 who want culture first and the sea at the end.

Who this trip suits

Moderate. Thai days combine sightseeing with drives of two to four hours and one night on a sleeper train. Bali touring days are full, with drives of one to two hours, and the Nusa Penida day starts at 6 am with boat crossings and bumpy island roads. Good for active couples and families with children over 10.

Where you stay

4-star hotels: Nouvo City Hotel in Bangkok, Felix River Kwai Resort in Kanchanaburi, The Empress in Chiang Mai and Laluna Hotel and Resort in Chiang Rai, then five nights at Fairfield by Marriott Bali Legian (Deluxe room), or similar. Night 4 is in a sleeper cabin on the train.

Best time to go

November to February is best in Thailand, with dry days and cool mornings in the north. Bali's dry season runs from April to October, with calm seas for Nusa Penida. From November to March Bali has short afternoon showers, so this is a year-round route: we adjust the beach and boat days to the weather.

Your guide, your language

Your guide and driver are yours alone for the whole trip, so the pace, the stops and the start time each morning follow you. The standard version has an English-speaking guide; guides who speak French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese or Vietnamese can be arranged on request (subject to availability).
