Private tour with your own English-speaking guide · 5 days / 4 nights · Siem Reap – Angkor – Phnom Bok – Koh Ker – Beng Mealea – Tonle Sap
This Angkor private tour gives you five days around Siem Reap with your own guide and driver, and it goes well beyond the usual one-day temple run. You see Angkor Wat at sunrise, the stone faces of the Bayon and the tree-wrapped walls of Ta Prohm, then head north into the countryside to Phnom Bok and the old capital of Koh Ker, where you spend the night close to the ruins.
On the way back you explore Beng Mealea, a vast temple still half claimed by the forest, and visit a small village monastery. The trip slows down at the end: an hour of massage in town, then a boat ride through a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake before your flight home.
Meals are included on most days, from a welcome dinner with Apsara dance to picnic lunches in the countryside. It is a good fit for first-time visitors who want depth, and for travelers who have seen Angkor before and want the quieter sites.
Easy to moderate. Expect two to three hours of walking on temple days, often on uneven stone and steep steps, plus a short hike up Phnom Bok. Drives to Koh Ker take about two to three hours each way on paved roads. Well suited to families with children over 10 and active older travelers.
Four comfortable nights at 4-star level: Saem Siem Reap (Deluxe room) or similar in town, and Koh Ker Temples Garden (Deluxe room) or similar near the Koh Ker temples, the best option in that rural area.
The best time is November to March, when days are dry and mornings are cool for sunrise visits. April and May are very hot, so plan temple time early and late. From June to October the rains turn the countryside green and Tonle Sap fills up; boat trips run all year, though in the late dry season (March to May) the lake is low and the route to the village can be shallow.
Your guide and driver are yours alone for the whole trip, so the pace, the stops and the start time each morning follow you. The standard version has an English-speaking guide; guides who speak French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese or Vietnamese can be arranged on request.

Your guide and driver meet you at Siem Reap airport and take you to your hotel in the center of town. Once you have settled in, visit the Artisans d'Angkor workshops, where young Cambodians train in silk weaving, stone and wood carving, lacquer and painting. Then take an easy stroll through the Old Market and along Pub Street to get your bearings. In the evening, enjoy a welcome dinner at a local restaurant with a performance of Apsara dance, the classical Khmer art form you will later see carved on the temple walls.
Overnight: Siem Reap · Meals: D
Rise early to watch dawn break over Angkor Wat, then return to the hotel for breakfast. Back at the temples, explore Angkor Wat, built in the early 12th century for King Suryavarman II, with its long galleries of carved reliefs. Continue to Angkor Thom through the South Gate, then visit the Bayon with its smiling stone faces, the Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, the royal terraces and Preah Khan. After lunch, wander through Ta Prohm, where fig and silk-cotton trees grow straight through the towers. End the day with sunset from Pre Rup or Phnom Bakheng.
Overnight: Siem Reap · Meals: B, L
After breakfast, drive out to Phnom Bok, one of three hilltop temples built around Angkor in the late 9th and early 10th centuries. A short climb to the summit rewards you with a broad view of the plain. Stop at the village school in Chres and enjoy a picnic lunch in the village. Continue north to Koh Ker, briefly the capital of the Khmer empire in the 10th century, where step pyramids and shrines sit quietly among the trees. Dinner tonight is a home-style meal cooked by a local family, or at your hotel.
Overnight: Koh Ker · Meals: B, L, D
Leave Koh Ker after breakfast for Beng Mealea, an early 12th-century temple that the jungle has never let go. Wooden walkways and fallen blocks lead you through collapsed galleries and mossy courtyards, a real sense of discovery. Have lunch at a local restaurant, then visit the monastery of Pouk on the way back to Siem Reap. After time to rest at your hotel, your guide takes you into town for a one-hour foot or body massage, a welcome treat after three days of temples. Dinner is at a local restaurant.
Overnight: Siem Reap · Meals: B, L, D
Spend your last morning on Tonle Sap Lake. A boat takes you through a floating village where houses, schools and shops rise and fall with the water. It is a close look at a way of life shaped entirely by the lake and its seasons, and your guide explains how families fish, trade and move their homes as the water changes. Return to Siem Reap and transfer to the airport for your onward flight.

Yes. The pace is steady but not rushed, and your guide plans the hottest hours around lunch and the drive. There are steep steps at some temples and a short climb at Phnom Bok, which you can skip if you prefer to wait at the base.
Koh Ker is about two to three hours from Siem Reap. Sleeping nearby lets you see it and Beng Mealea without a very long day in the car, and you enjoy the temples when few other visitors are around.
Most temple visits around Angkor are 15 to 40 minutes from town. The drive to Koh Ker via Phnom Bok and back via Beng Mealea is the longest, split over two days with plenty of stops.
