About this tour

Quick answer

A short private stay in Yangon with your own guide and driver: Shwedagon Pagoda at sunset, the colonial streets of downtown, the great reclining Buddha of Chauk Htat Gyi and a day trip to Bago, the old Mon capital. Yangon is the part of Myanmar with the lightest official travel restrictions, which makes this the simplest way to start.

From US$410 per person for the whole tour, based on 4 travellers sharing double rooms in the hotels listed or similar. Domestic flights are quoted separately. The route is adjusted to current travel advisories and confirmed in your tailor-made quote before booking.

Travel advice: routes adjusted to current travel advisories; we confirm each itinerary before booking. The UK FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Mandalay Region (including Bagan and Mandalay) and southern Shan State (including Inle Lake), and against all travel to several other states; the US and Australia advise against all travel to Myanmar. Please read your own government’s advice and check that your travel insurance covers the trip before you decide. Some monuments in Mandalay, Amarapura, Inwa and Bagan were damaged in the March 2025 earthquake; access is checked for your dates.

Who this trip suits

Easy. Short walks in pagodas (barefoot on warm stone) and city streets, about two hours on the road each way to Bago. Suits first-time visitors, older travellers and anyone adding Myanmar to a Thailand or Vietnam trip.

Where you stay

Three nights in Yangon at upper-range level: Park Royal, Chatrium, Meliá or Sedona Hotel Yangon, or similar, confirmed in your quote.

Best time to go

November to February is the most comfortable season: dry, warm days and cool nights. March to May is very hot in Yangon, Bagan and Mandalay, so visits are planned early and late. June to October is the green, rainy season, quieter and cheaper.

Your guide, your language

Your guide and driver are yours alone, so the pace and the stops follow you. English-speaking guides are standard; other languages can be requested and are confirmed in your quote, subject to availability.
