Luxury cruise · Bai Tu Long Bay, Ha Long, Vietnam
Two nights in Bai Tu Long Bay on a six-suite Art Deco ship

In short
Violet is Heritage Line's smallest bay ship: six suites with private balconies and in-suite jacuzzis, styled after 1930s French-Indochinese Art Deco. It sails a two-night circuit into Bai Tu Long Bay, the eastern, less-visited extension of Ha Long Bay. It suits couples who want privacy, and small families or friends who can take the whole ship.

With six suites the ship rarely carries more than twelve guests, so dinner feels like a private house. Junior Suites are 32 sqm, Imperial Suites 38 sqm on the upper deck, each with balcony and jacuzzi. Public rooms are a restaurant, a private dining room for four, a bar, a library lounge, a spa with steam bath and a sun deck. The route stays off the main Ha Long lanes: kayaking in the Tra San area, Thien Canh Son cave with its roughly 100 steps, the Vung Vieng floating fishing village with a local host, a coffee workshop and a beach stop.
The pace is gentle and the walking short, apart from the cave steps, which are optional. Because the ship is small, a group of six to twelve can charter it outright for a family celebration. Spa treatments, bay admission fees and transfers from Hanoi are not included.
| Day 1 | Check in at Heritage Line's lounge, Tuan Chau Marina; board Violet; lunch while sailing into Bai Tu Long; afternoon kayaking at Tra San; à la carte dinner at a quiet anchorage. |
|---|---|
| Day 2 | Tai chi on the terrace deck; Thien Canh Son cave; Vung Vieng floating fishing village with a local host; lunch, coffee workshop and a beach stop; second night at anchor. |
| Day 3 | Breakfast on board while sailing back to Tuan Chau Marina; disembark mid-morning and continue by private car to Hanoi or the airport. |
We use Violet when a couple or a family of up to twelve wants the bay to themselves. It sits in the middle of a northern itinerary: Hanoi with our guide, a private car to Tuan Chau Marina (about two and a half hours), two nights on board, then direct to Hanoi airport for the flight south. For wellness-led trips we pair it with a few resort nights in Central Vietnam.
Itineraries we often build around it:
Bai Tu Long is the eastern part of the same limestone seascape, with far fewer boats. Violet sails there on a two-night circuit, so you see the same scenery as Ha Long without the day-boat traffic, plus a working floating village and a quiet cave.
Yes. With six suites, a group of six to twelve people often takes the entire ship for a family celebration or a milestone birthday. We arrange the charter, the menu requests and a private car fleet from Hanoi.
Yes. The ship is small, distances on board are short and excursions are by tender with crew help. The cave has about 100 steps and is optional; kayaking can be swapped for a rowing boat ride on request.
