In short

Indochine Grand is Indochina Sails' newest ship, launched in 2025 on Lan Ha Bay from Tuan Chau Port. It has 32 cabins for 64 guests, all with private balconies, and a crew of the same size. Programs are one or two nights, with Dark and Bright cave, a floating fish farm and, on two nights, Viet Hai village and Three Peaches beach. It suits couples and families with older children who want a modern ship with French-Indochine styling.

Why it is worth it

The ship is new, which shows in the cabin plan: 28 Junior Suites of 28 sqm, two Suites of 36 sqm, an Executive Suite of 40 sqm and a Presidential Suite of 58 sqm, each with a balcony, bathtub-style bathroom and a lockable deposit box, robes and Wi-Fi. Public space is generous for 64 guests: the Tonkin restaurant on deck two, the Cochinchine lounge and art corner on deck one, a rooftop panoramic bar, a 450 sqm sundeck with jacuzzi pool, an elevated 300 sqm infinity deck and a mini-golf green. The crew-to-guest ratio of one to one is the operator's headline and in practice means fast, attentive service.

With 64 guests the ship is mid-sized and sociable, not a boutique boat. The two-night program is the better one here: it adds Ha Long Bay scenery, Viet Hai village, Tai Queo cave and a beach afternoon, where the one-night loop stays close to the port.

How we fit it into your private trip

We book Indochine Grand for guests who want a new ship and a rooftop bar without the price of the boutique boats. It fits after two or three Hanoi nights, with our private car to Tuan Chau Port (about two and a half hours) and a driver waiting on return. On honeymoon and heritage itineraries we prefer the two-night program and fly south from Hanoi the same afternoon.

Itineraries we often build around it:

Frequently asked questions

Is Indochine Grand suitable for travelers in their 70s?

Yes. The ship is new, with wide corridors and short distances between restaurant, lounge and cabins. Excursions use tenders with crew assistance, and the cave and beach stops are optional; many guests stay on the sundeck or at the rooftop bar.

One night or two?

Two, if your schedule allows. The one-night loop covers the Dark and Bright cave and a fish farm; the second night adds Ha Long Bay scenery, Viet Hai village, Tai Queo cave and a beach afternoon, and the ship anchors in quieter water.

How do we get there from Hanoi?

By private car with your Metta driver, about two and a half hours on the expressway to Tuan Chau Port, where the operator's lounge handles check-in. On the last morning the car continues to Hanoi airport, Ninh Binh or your Hanoi hotel.

Is the rate per cabin or per person?

Indochina Sails quotes per person, based on two sharing, with seasonal promotions by cabin category. Price is confirmed in your written quote, including the private car from Hanoi.
