Most golf trips in Vietnam mean a different hotel every night or two, a lot of time in a car, and a domestic flight between each region. The SJourney golf journey solves that. Your cabin travels with you: you play in the morning, come back to the train for a late lunch and afternoon tea, and the train moves south while you sleep. Over eight days you cross the whole country, from the limestone hills of Ninh Binh to the sand dunes of Phan Thiet, without packing a bag.
This guide is written for golfers and their partners who want comfort first: what the journey includes, what each day looks like, who it suits and what to check before booking.

What makes this golf trip different
No hotel changes

Seven nights in the same cabin. Each cabin has a twin or double bed, a private bathroom and air conditioning. You unpack once in Hanoi and step off in Ho Chi Minh City. For many golfers in their fifties and sixties, this alone is the reason to choose the train.
Plan your Vietnam trip in 1 minute
Pick your month to see the weather by region, or estimate your budget — then get a private itinerary from our Hanoi team.
Typical seasonal patterns; weather varies year to year. Our team checks your exact dates when we prepare your itinerary.
"From" prices published on our Vietnam tour cost guide: per person per day, 2 travellers sharing, private guide & driver, hotels, listed activities. International flights, e-visa, insurance and tips not included. Final price is confirmed in your written quote.
Golf in the morning, rest in the afternoon
The rhythm is the same most days: breakfast on board, a private transfer to the course, 18 holes, then back to the train for lunch or afternoon tea while the countryside slides past. You avoid the hottest part of the day on the course, and partners who do not play can spend the morning on the train or, on request, with a private guide nearby.
Five very different courses
The routing takes you from an inland course among limestone hills in Ninh Binh to coastal links in Quang Binh, Quang Nam and Phan Thiet, where wind and sand dunes are part of the challenge, and to an island course in Nha Trang reached by cable car. It is a good overview of how varied golf in Vietnam has become. For background on the country’s courses, see our Vietnam golf travel guide.
A real rest day
Day 4 has no golf. Instead you spend the day at Alba Wellness Valley in the hills near Hue, with a Japanese-style onsen bath, a massage, natural hot springs and a sound-healing session. After three days of travel and two rounds, it is well placed.

What is included
As listed on the tour page:
- 7 nights on board SJourney in a cabin with a double or twin bed and private bathroom
- Breakfast, lunch and dinner on board, with Vietnamese, Asian and Western dishes
- 5 rounds of 18 holes, with green fees and a shared golf cart (2 players per cart)
- Soft drinks, beer, wine at the bar, tea and coffee daily
- Daily housekeeping and turndown, a tour management team on board, and transfers at the start and end of the journey
- 24/7 hotline support
Not included: transfers or services not in the itinerary, drinks off the train, personal expenses, visa fees and travel insurance. Caddie fees and club hire are not listed as included, so ask us if you need them.
Price and dates
The tour starts from US$7,750 per person, as listed on the tour page. Train fares are set by the operator for each departure and cabin type, so your final price is confirmed in writing, with your cabin and course line-up, before any deposit.
SJourney runs on scheduled Wednesdays and the number of departures is limited. Our advice is to choose the train date first, then book your international flights around it. The operator’s published journeys and cabin details are in our SJourney prices and cabins guide and on sjourney.asia.
Who it suits
- Couples where one partner plays: the non-golfer has the train, the wellness day, the Hai Van Pass views and the Cham dinner.
- Groups of friends: four golfers fill two carts, and the bistro car becomes your clubhouse.
- Travellers who dislike domestic flights: you cross 1,700 km of coast without visiting an airport between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
It is less suited to travellers who want long, free days in each town, because the train keeps moving. If that is you, our 13-day Vietnam luxury tour with SJourney (from US$8,600 per person) adds Hanoi, a Ha Long Bay cruise and the Mekong Delta around the train, and we can add a round of golf in Hanoi or Da Nang.
Extending your trip
Eight days is short for a long-haul trip. Popular extensions before or after the train:
- Before: two or three nights in Hanoi, with a new luxury hotel such as Fairmont Hanoi, and a night near Ha Long at the new Hilton Quang Hanh onsen resort. See new luxury hotels, cruises and trains in Vietnam for 2027 and our guide to a two-bay cruise plus an onsen night.
- After: a day in the Mekong Delta from Ho Chi Minh City, or three nights on a beach.
