In short

Amanpuri is Aman's first resort, on a coconut-palm peninsula above Pansea Beach on Phuket's west coast, a 30-minute drive from the airport. Most guests take three or four nights at the end of a Thailand trip. It suits couples who want quiet and families with older children who want a villa with its own pool and chef.

Why it is worth it

Amanpuri set the pattern for Aman: Thai-style pavilions with terraces facing the sea or the gardens, many with private pools, linked by raised walkways through the greenery. Villas at the tip of the peninsula have two to nine bedrooms, their own swimming pools and personal chefs. The resort's Holistic Wellness Centre combines a Spa House, Wellness Immersions, Medical Services and a Mobility and Recovery Programme developed with Novak Djokovic. Six places to eat, Arva, Akari, Buabok, Nura, The Sunset Terrace and The Beach Terrace, sit above a white-sand beach with watersports. You pay for privacy on a peninsula the resort has to itself.

The peninsula means walking and some steps between pavilion, pool and beach; travelers who prefer level ground should ask us about pavilions near the main pool. For families, a two-bedroom pool pavilion or a villa with a chef keeps everyone together. Three nights is the minimum that makes sense after the drive from the airport.

DepartureLate check-out when available, then a private car to the airport for your flight home or on to Bangkok.

How we fit it into your private trip

Amanpuri is where we end Thailand trips: three or four nights after Bangkok and the north, or after a few days in Krabi. We book the pavilion category that suits you, arrange the private transfer from Phuket airport and keep sightseeing to one boat day so the stay stays slow. It also works as the beach finale of a longer Indochina trip, with direct flights into Phuket from Bangkok and Singapore.

Itineraries we often build around it:

Good to know

  • Pansea Beach, Cherngtalay, on Phuket's west coast; 30 minutes by road from Phuket International Airport.
  • Pavilions are free-standing with terraces; villas have two, five or nine bedrooms with staff and a chef.
  • Watersports and a Family experiences programme are run by the resort.
  • Restaurants: Arva, Akari, Buabok, Nura, The Sunset Terrace and The Beach Terrace.
  • The dry, calmer season on this coast runs roughly November to April.

Frequently asked questions

Is Amanpuri suitable for travelers in their 70s?

Yes, with a pavilion chosen for position. The resort spreads across a peninsula with walkways and steps between the pavilions, the pool and the beach. We ask for a pavilion near the main pool and restaurants, keep the boat day short, and let the Wellness Centre's mobility programme take care of the rest.

Can children stay at Amanpuri?

Yes. Aman runs a Family experiences programme at Amanpuri and the resort publishes no minimum age. For a family of four we usually take a two-bedroom pool pavilion; larger groups fit a villa with its own pool and chef. Older children enjoy the watersports and a boat day in Phang Nga Bay.

How do we get there?

Phuket International Airport has direct flights from Bangkok, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. From the airport it is a 30-minute drive to the resort, and we book the private car so it is waiting when you land. Coming from Krabi or Khao Lak, we arrange the road transfer with a stop on the way if you like.

Is the rate per pavilion or per person?

Rates are per pavilion or villa per night, not per person. Your written quote shows the category, the number of nights and how the stay fits into the whole trip price. Price is confirmed in your written quote.
